Right next to the largest animals in the world

As the Atmosphere sailed the Patagonian channels and bays throughout its inaugural season, the days were fruitful in whale and dolphin observation. Our visitors had the opportunity to see some expected species and even more than a few surprises that the ocean had in store for them.

Numerous trips of Nomads ecotourism program were privileged in respect to the conditions for observing Blue Whales. Our guests were able to see them feeding, nursing their young and even during moments of passionate courting. The curious Humpback Whale, widely known in the whale – watching circuit, also presented itself in all its glory in the zones travelled by the RIB.

Furthermore, a group of explorers on Nomads was not only able to sight a Pigmy Killer Whale, but also was able to observe it from only 5 meters away and, in addition, confirmed its association with other species. This experience has opened the door to study its behaviour from another perspective: its elaborate vocal repertoire, or songs, has been the object of intense studies.

Negotiations are advanced to add a second helicopter

Nomads of the Seas is on the verge of acquiring a brand new helicopter that will second our existing Bell 407. The aircraft will add more flight hours to the fly fishing program and will allow adventurers to reach deep into Patagonian lands where they will be able to catch immaculate and vigorous trouts. The two helicopters will also support the ecotourism program giving the explorers the unique opportunity to practice rafting and trekking in dreamed rivers and forests.

New and sophisticated adventures are added to the ecotourism program

Nomads of the Seas is enriching its ecotourism program with new Soft Outdoor activities for adventurers who want a closer, more dynamic contact with Patagonia's pristine and monumental nature.

On the jetboating activity, our guests will experience breathtaking journeys that combine speed and safety. Kayaking offers three different alternatives: row gently through peaceful rivers; go downstream on different kinds of water rapids or travel across the coastline admiring the amazing marine wildlife.

Also on our new trekking journeys, our guests will be transported by Jetboat or helicopter to remote inland or coastal locations, hidden spots where our experienced guides have selected various day routes. On the rafting activities our explorers will be able to face from soft current to 3rd degree rivers thanks to our high security standards. The helicopter will also give explorers the opportunity to practice rafting in different spots of Patagonia, places that are difficult to reach by any other way.

Finally, our guests will experience horseback rides through the forests, hills and mountains of Patagonia.

These new adventures are sure to add even more value to our ecotourism program, whose core activities are whale and bird watching expeditions, and photographic safaris.

Rob Lott – Manager, Out of the Blue (UK)

"We did have some great encounters with the Chilean dolphins and sea lions - the whole area is very important to whales and dolphins and deserves protection for future generations to enjoy. I think anybody who takes part in the trip should become ambassadors for Chilean Patagonia and its wildlife when they return home."

Manuel Caneda – Danica Magazine Editor & Feder Pesca Collaborator (Spain)

"During the first days, we caught rainbow trout and brown trout in their natural state, aggressive, like few other times we've fished. We caught so many, and such well-sized samples, we couldn't believe it. In every fly fishing trip we had the feeling we were the first ones to walk along the river banks we were taken to. Otherwise, it would have been impossible to explain the surfeit of fishes."
